Sunflower Bank wrapped up its eighth annual ABC: Be True to Your Schools campaign by donating $290 to Topeka-area student winners.

Each year, as part of the first-quarter ABC promotion, students of all grade levels are encouraged to provide their most recent report card to Sunflower Bank. On April 1, the bank randomly selected five student winners from each location, paying the students $10 for each A.

In Topeka, the winners were: Tyler Corbett, Auburn Washburn, Jaden and Jordan Gray, Topeka Lutheran School, Samuel Figgs, Rossville Elementary, and Madison Hawkins, St. Marys.

Kellye Burkholder, Manager of Sunflower Bank Topeka, presented the checks to the student winners at Sunflower Bank’s 2641 SW Wanamaker Road office on Tuesday, April 28.

“We’re thrilled each year to recognize student achievers throughout Sunflower Bank,” said Burkholder. “The ABC program provides substantial donations to schools – more than $350,000 to Kansas and Colorado schools during the last eight years. The awards to student winners are a privilege to present.”

The Pay for A’s report card drawings are held annually at the end of first quarter, and the bank pays not only the students – but also matches the amount to the student’s school. Other components of the ABC program result from the bank’s three-month campaign allowing customers to earmark Sunflower Bank donations for their favorite school simply by signing for their debit card transactions. Sunflower Bank presents donation amounts to participating schools during May.
