Bank announces presence in Kansas City area

Sunflower Bank announces its expansion into the Kansas City metropolitan area with the recent addition of two business bankers and a commercial loan office in Overland Park, Kansas.

David Rambo, Market President, and Cory Miller, Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer, joined the Sunflower Bank Kansas City team on February 8. Both officers are based in Overland Park and each will focus on meeting the commercial lending and corporate service needs of businesses in the Kansas City metro area. At this time, the Sunflower Bank Kansas City office is only equipped for commercial loan service.

Rambo and Miller are established commercial lenders in the Kansas City market and are moving to Sunflower Bank from the commercial lending group of Bank Midwest in Kansas City, Mo.

“We’re pleased to welcome seasoned, professional lenders to our Sunflower Bank team, and we couldn’t be more proud to have Dave and Cory as the faces of Sunflower Bank in our Kansas City market,” said Mollie Hale Carter, president and chief executive officer of the Salina, Kansas-based national bank.

The hires of Rambo and Miller signify strides by family-owned Sunflower Bank to expand eastward into Kansas City, building on its proven track record of community banking in 33 cities throughout Kansas, Missouri, and Colorado. The $1.8-billion bank also recently acquired the Bank of Leeton in Leeton, Mo., after the institution was closed by the Missouri Division of Finance in January.

Rambo, president of Sunflower Bank Kansas City, is a native of Great Bend and spent nearly 7 years with Bank Midwest. Prior to that, he served as regional sales manager for GE Capital, and earned his B.S. from Kansas State in accounting. Rambo is active in several volunteer efforts in the metro area, including the Salvation Army and Ozanam.

Miller has spent nearly 5 years in banking, after five years at Pace Properties, Inc., in St. Louis. He earned his B.S. in finance from Ball State University (Muncie, Ind.) and earned his MBA in finance from Saint Louis University in 2001. Miller is actively involved as a coach with the SPCAA in Platte County, Mo.

Family-owned Sunflower Bank, a $1.8 billion organization, remains strong, well-capitalized, and ready to lend. The bank offers a full suite of corporate and customized commercial loan services.

Under the Sunflower Financial, Inc. holding company, Sunflower Bank, combined with Sunflower Insurance Group and Sunflower Trust and Wealth Management serves a complete array of banking, insurance, and wealth management needs to business clients.

Headquartered in Salina, Kansas, Sunflower Bank serves customers through Colorado offices in Cañon City, Monte Vista, Pueblo and South Fork; Kansas offices in Colby, Dodge City, Ellinwood, Great Bend, Hays, Junction City, Lawrence, Liberal, Manhattan, McPherson, Osborne, Overland Park, Russell, Salina, Topeka, Victoria and Wichita, and Missouri offices in Leeton.
