Launch of 2008 ABC: Be True to Our Schools!

January 1, 2008

Launch of 2008 ABC: Be True to Our Schools!

The seventh annual partnership program with area schools begins now and runs through March 31, 2008!

Each year, Sunflower Bank and a majority of participating area schools combine to present the program, designed to help local schools financially and reward local students for their grades. Since the ABC program’s inception in 2001, Sunflower Bank invested more than $224,000 into schools and students spread throughout the bank’s 20 communities in Kansas and Colorado.

ABC: Be True to Your Schools 2008 features three opportunities for new and existing customers to benefit area schools and students:

 • A. We Pay For A’s. Students are encouraged to enter a copy of their most recent report card in the “Pay For A’s” contest at any Sunflower Bank location. On March 1, Sunflower Bank draws from the report card batch to select 5 winners in each of its 35 locations. All winners receive $10 for each A, and a matching amount is donated to the student’s school! In the last six years, “Pay for A’s” has resulted in school and student donations totaling nearly $50,000.
 • B. Bucks For Our Schools. All Sunflower Bank customers can designate a participating school to receive a donation every time they use their Sunflower Bank check card from January through March! Sunflower Bank donates 10 cents to the customer’s designated school for each debit transaction (PIN), and 20 cents for each credit transaction (signed transaction) until March 31. Schools have received $33,000 during the last six years just from customers’ check card usage!
 • C. Cash For Our Schools. During January and February, new Sunflower Bank checking customers can earn up to $100 when they switch their primary checking account to Sunflower Bank, and can designate a participating school of their choice to earn a matching check! In the past six years this piece has provided nearly $100,000 in funding for schools!

Sunflower Bank believes that at the core of every community lies its school system. Schools provide educational and growth opportunities for our youth, jobs for adults, and enhance economic development opportunities. Sunflower Bank is excited about the ABC program because it has been so well received in the past and has benefited so many young people.

Sunflower Bank is a family-owned bank with more than $1.4 billion in assets. Sunflower Bank has 35 branch locations in 18 markets throughout Kansas and Colorado, including its headquarters in Salina. Sunflower Bank also is located in Colby, Dodge City, Ellinwood, Great Bend, Hays, Junction City, Lawrence, Liberal, Manhattan, McPherson, Osborne, Russell, Topeka, Victoria and Wichita, Kansas, and Cañon City, Monte Vista, Pueblo, Salida and South Fork, Colorado.
