Lisa Munoz
Christine MunozFor Christine and Lisa Munoz, success has always been about teamwork and career growth. Based in Santa Fe, NM, the sisters work together as The Munoz Team. Christine serves as Mortgage Branch Manager, while Lisa is a key Mortgage Loan Originator on her team. Together, they co-market and provide reliable back-up when realtors, title companies, and other partners need immediate support, while each manages their own pipeline.
When they joined Sunflower Bank, they found more than a platform; they found an organization with stability, culture, and opportunities that make long-term growth and development possible.
Finding a New Home at Sunflower Bank
After working in the mortgage industry for over two decades, Christine joined Sunflower Bank in February 2025. She knew she belonged at a community bank but wanted an opportunity to take a leadership role and build a team - the mortgage branch manager position was a perfect fit.
“I love when a bank is big enough to make big decisions, but small enough to be nimble and pivot when it needs to,” says Christine. “I've found that at Sunflower Bank. I’ve moved from a solo, mortgage lending role to a leadership role, where I’ve had the opportunity to build a team and create the camaraderie that I was missing previously.”
Christine built her team organically. When she joined the Bank, she hit the ground running with recruitment and quickly grew from there. She assembled a diverse team of professionals with a wealth of knowledge. From seasoned mortgage loan originators (MLOs) to up-and-comers, her team spans a range of expertise and experience.
As Christine thought about MLOs who could add strength to her team, Lisa stood out as a natural fit. Since beginning her mortgage career in 2005, Lisa has built a strong background in commercial and residential construction lending and has held the title of Vice President of Mortgage Lending.
Having seen friends and colleagues move to Sunflower Bank, and hearing consistently positive feedback about the organization, Lisa was already familiar with the Bank’s reputation. When the opportunity to work alongside Christine came up, the timing felt right, and she joined the team in June 2025.
“I was looking for a company that truly values its employees and the communities it serves. Sunflower Bank exemplifies these qualities, and it’s evident through their actions, both within the community and in how they support their team.”
“I was looking for a company that truly values its employees and the communities it serves,” said Lisa. “Sunflower Bank exemplifies these qualities, and it’s evident through their actions, both within the community and in how they support their team.”
At Sunflower Bank, not only could Lisa partner with her sister, but she also found a bank that provided the tools and resources she needed to grow her business while effectively serving the community and her clients.
A Collaborative Culture Makes the Difference
Both Christine and Lisa credit the Bank’s culture as one of the reasons they chose to work at Sunflower Bank, and why they’re confident they made the right move. They point to the following cultural hallmarks as key in their day-to-day:
Accessible Leadership
The open-door policy adopted by Bank leadership means there is always someone available and willing to talk through a transaction, provide help, or offer advice. “I feel like leadership from the very top has a special place for the mortgage department. They give us a lot... respect, a great budget to work with, and they believe in us and what we do.” - Christine Munoz
Employee Empowerment
Employees are empowered to do what’s best for the customer. “Customer service is always at the forefront of every decision the Bank makes. If it’s the right thing to do for the client, we’re going to do it.” - Christine Munoz.
Mortgage Servicing
Christine references that we service most of our loans and are a full-service bank as reasons we can serve clients so well. “We can meet customer mortgage needs, but also wealth management, deposits, private banking, and business needs." - Christine Munoz
Support and Resources
Sunflower Bank provides employees with the tools and inspiration to win.
MLOs have access to a wide range of products and services to help their clients. A full support team also backs them. MLOs have local underwriters, processors, and loan officer assistants to ensure a smooth, efficient loan process.
In addition, Marketing provides a wide range of resources MLOs can use to build their brand and attract and retain clients. A growing library of flyers and ready-to-use, customizable content supports lead generation, while the Bank’s self-serve model makes it easy to access brand-approved materials MLOs can personalize in minutes and use across multiple channels.
“The support from the entire team—lenders, operations staff, and more—is truly amazing. Everyone is collaborative, helpful, and genuinely excited to celebrate your success. It creates an environment where you feel valued and motivated to excel.” - Lisa Munoz
Growing Their Careers
As Lisa and Christine look toward their futures at Sunflower Bank, they see a world of growth and opportunity.
“I’m focused on long-term growth and development, and I truly believe I’ve found the place where I’ll retire." - Lisa Munoz
“I love mortgage lending. I love working with clients and my team. Here I’m able to be a leader.” - Christine Munoz
Every day, Lisa and Christine are reminded that what they do matters and is important to those they work with. They feel valued and appreciated at Sunflower Bank, which makes a big difference in a career that’s highly demanding but also very rewarding. With leadership’s respect, team support, and growth opportunities, the future looks bright.
