Sunflower Bank Sponsors Sold Out Hockey Games Benefitting Autism Awareness

On Saturday, January 28, 2023, after two years of serving as a corporate sponsor, Sunflower Bank sponsored three sold-out Pueblo Bulls JR 'A' U20 Hockey Club games as part of a special Autism Awareness weekend.

These efforts raised $5,100 to benefit the Soaring Eagles Center for Autism, whose mission is to provide care, teaching, and development for autistic children to thrive in the community upon adulthood.

This event meant a lot to all involved. Sunflower Bank’s Pueblo market team has developed a deep and wide-ranging relationship with the Pueblo Bulls. Additionally, the Soaring Eagles have an inspiring story that has been a part of the Pueblo community for over 20 years. These strong community connections are what that led to the fantastic January 28 event, which focused on benefitting the entire local community.

Limited-edition jerseys worn during the games were auctioned off through an online silent auction organized by Sunflower Bank to raise funds for The Soaring Eagles. At the end of the auction at the games, a check was presented to the Soaring Eagles CEO, Dr. Karen Kolvin Whitaker and several members of the Soaring Eagles of Board of Directors by Pueblo North Branch Manager Kendra Churich and other bank representatives.

In her remarks, Dr. Whitaker thanked Sunflower Bank for embracing the Soaring Eagles Center’s mission and for bringing the Pueblo community together in a fun filled and memorable event.  We are delighted and honored to have brought the Pueblo community together while helping a local non-profit to achieve goals in support of Sunflower Bank’s mission “Bringing out the best in the lives we touch . . . Creating Possibility.”
