Sunflower Bank Hosts Holiday Model Train Display in Downtown El Paso

November 24, 2021

El Paso, TX – November 24, 2021 – This year for the first time, Sunflower Bank is hosting a Holiday Model Train Display in partnership with the Railroad Model and Historical Association of El Paso. Viewing the display is free and open to the public at Sunflower Bank’s branch at 201 E. Main, Suite 200, in downtown El Paso. From November 29 – December 31, 2021, trains will run daily from Monday through Friday between 10:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

“I am so excited to help bring the magic of a holiday model railroad display to El Paso,” said Ernesto Avila, Sunflower Bank Regional President for El Paso and Las Cruces. “Ever since we moved to the iconic bank branch on the second floor of 201 E. Main, I have been working to make this a new holiday tradition for El Paso that will grow every year. We look forward to welcoming children, families and the young at heart to see the display featuring the trains from The Polar ExpressTM.”

This new El Paso event was inspired by the Tree & Train display that was a holiday tradition that began in the bank’s First National 1870 branch on the Santa Fe Plaza in Santa Fe, New Mexico over 60 years ago.

The Railroad Model and Historical Association of El Paso designed the train layout for Sunflower Bank, and is providing the expertise to manage the exhibit and maintain the running of the trains.

“When Sunflower Bank reached out to ask us to create the Holiday Model Railroad Display, we were on board right away!” said Roger Heidt of the Railroad Model and Historical Association of El Paso. “This is a wonderful new way to bring the joy of model railroading to El Paso and celebrate the holiday season.”
