Great Bend Community Washes 113 Free Loads of Laundry as Part of Laundry Love Event

Sunflower Bank is proud to sponsor the Laundry Love event of 2024 in Great Bend, KS. Laundry Love is a key initiative of one of our 2023 Community Partner Awards recipients: United Way of Central Kansas, who strives to make a tangible difference in the lives of families navigating economic challenges.

Recognizing the pivotal role clean clothes play in individuals' lives, Laundry Love’s mission is to wash the clothes and bedding of low and no-income families and individuals with the hope of preventing the stress that can be associated with poor health and hygiene. On the third Saturday of each month in 2024, families can wash up to five loads of laundry for free.

Charell Owings, Executive Director of the United Way of Central Kansas Impact Program, emphasized, "Laundry Love is more than just a service; it's a community coming together to support one another. We are grateful for Sunflower Bank's sponsorship, which allowed us to make a real difference in the lives of these families."

Sunflower Bank provided financial backing for the 2024 event and contributed to creating a warm and inviting space for community members who attended the first Laundry Love event on January 20 that allowed 65 Individuals and 28 families to complete 113 loads of free laundry.

We will continue to support the United Way of Central Kansas with the upcoming Laundry Love events this year. These initiatives not only address practical needs but also weave stronger bonds within the community fabric.
